Sarah’s story – Grantee Lived Experience

Sarah*, a mother of two, found herself facing mounting debt amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis. Supporting both sons alone, including her 8-year-old son, who has ADHD and SEMH and requires extra care and attention, Sarah struggled to manage. Coupled with the lack of a functional fridge freezer, cooker, and a car seat for her youngest son, Sarah reached crisis point with concerns about how she would adequately cook and store meals, keep her home warm and travel safely with her children.

Supported by Stonewater staff, Sarah applied for assistance from Longleigh to help her fund the much needed essential goods. Receiving support not only eliminated immediate challenges with food storage and meal preparation but also opened up new opportunities for outings with her son, which significantly improved their quality of life.

In her own words, Sarah said, “My items have been delivered and I’m over the moon! I couldn’t be happier, thank you so much. This help means more to me than you can understand. Sending a thank you to you and your team for the funding you provide to people. I want to tell you that it is appreciated and really makes a difference. Thank you.”
